Didn't Know I Had Diabetes

HI. I am diabetic. I did not realize that I was diabetic until last year. I had a heart attack in July of 2008. The heart attack was not majorly caused by my diabetes but, my diabetes played a big role in it. I was very fortunate that I was able to make it to the hospital on time. I am now on three different types of medication for my diabetes. My mother was diagnosed with diabetes ten years ago and was on medication until she passed away. I am learning more about diabetes as time goes by, like; not only by taking my medication daily can I control my diabetes, but also, with diet and exercise. I believe that we should all have some knowledge about diabetes, being that we don't really know when or if it might hit us or a family member.
