I had gestational diabetes with my fourth child. It totally stunk! I had to follow a special low carbohydrate diet which was horrible as I craved chocolate. I lost weight and was smaller when he was delivered than when I got pregnant. That was the only benefit from having gestational diabetes I was able to fit back into my size 6's right after birth. I had to keep my blood sugar no higher than 100 which wasn't too terribly hard to do. Some days it was more difficult than others. On my birthday and Easter I didn't follow the diet given to me. I ate whatever I wanted and just reported false reading numbers to my doctor. My son was born in perfect health and was not obese when he was born at 8lbs. 8oz., which is a good average size for a newborn.
