The best weight plan I have ever used involves low carbohydrate consumption. I started with Atkins, but moved off of the excess fat that is called for by Atkins and focused on the virtual absence of carbohydrates. No starches/sugars of ANY kind, and when I do eat carbs, they are vegetables, including regular salads. I do love nuts and cheeses, so there is a fair amount of fat in my diet. I have found, over many years, that if I allow myself to eat any carbohydrates at all, I simply cannot control it. So, the best I have been able to do is just cut them out altogether. I typically will eat as many grams of carbohydrates in a month as a "normal" person eats in a day or two. I have pretty low cholesterol and no diabetes.
