Twenty Stress Reducers

Twenty stress reducers

are things you can do to release stress in your daily life and healthy ways to vent. People with diabetes tend to have a lot more stress than others since the management involves a lot of work in every day life. What with testing blood sugars often, watching diet, taking pills, exercising to keep glucose normalized is very taxing.

I came up with twenty stress reducers for people to use to help reduce their stress and even have some fun while releasing tensions. Here goes the list:

Talking to let it out is the greatest type of therapy there is. Often when you talk about your life stresses, the other person listening may have some good thoughts. This is the top of my list in these twenty stress reducers since talking solves problems many times with other people.

Start out eating breakfast. Eating your breakfast is the most important thing you can do, especially as a diabetic person. Breakfast needs to be a very healthy well-rounded meal with many nutrients to start out and especially when taking insulin.

Find Humor. Finding humor is great medicine. Read the comics, find a comedy to watch, or be around a person that makes you laugh. Studies have proven that laughing lets off stress, and therefore the stress hormone level decreases.

Find fun stuff to do. Having something to look forward to is the reason for living. In looking over twenty stress reducers, this is vital to go on living happily.

More fiber helps. How does fiber help? Fiber has been known to stabilize blood glucose, and even out the mood swings you may have. You can find fiber in fruits, vegetables, and many cereals. Diet definitely plays a role as part of the twenty stress reducers.

Eating oatmeal for breakfast is a mood uplifter. Why? Eating oatmeal helps to release serotonin from your brain which is a neurotransmitter.

Buy yourself something you like. A new book by your favorite author, or some small thing such as this helps to make a person happy and reading is relaxing, by the way.

Play with your cat or dog. Nothing is more fun than playing with your pet and brings more relaxation. I know that my cat releases stress for me since she's very eccentric, and brings me a lot of laughter and entertainment!

Stay away from negative people. Being around people that are always down in the mouth and never happy makes it harder for you to manage yourself. Stay away from people like that as much as possible. It may not always be possible, but if not, do your best to let their negativism roll off your shoulders.

Put a lid on your own inner critic. Sometimes it is easy to get down on yourself especially with diabetes. Try to tackle hardships step by step and finding solutions that work to make you happier.

Journaling helps you vent. You can write down whatever is making you very angry, why you're holding a grudge, or whatever. It is somewhere to channel grief.

Drinking certain black tea helps the neurotransmitters within the brain. The amino acids have shown to be a pick-me-up. Try drinking four cups daily.

Learn to not say yes to everything. We all have our limits, and saying yes to everything people expect may be biting off more than you can chew. Realize what your limits are in doing for others.

Having sex is often a stress releaser. There is a very large amount of endorphins released during sex that has a calming effect afterword.

Have a vacation to some place that is relaxing and get away from it all.

Board games are relaxing and fun. Try Scrabble, Monopoly, or Trvial Pursuit.

Physical activity is a great stress releaser for anyone. Walking helps stress hormones to go away quickly, and also gives you a chance to think.

Get a massage. Massage is wonderful and there is no better way for relaxation. I've found that after getting a massage, I can sleep much better at night for several nights after.

Take a relaxing bath. Relaxing in the tub helps a lot especially in warm water. This is because the warm water helps the body to relax a lot.

Have lunch or dinner with a friend. This is something to look forward to. A friend is also a support system.

These twenty stress reducers can be helpful to anyone, but especially those of us living with chronic health problems like diabetes. Take time each day to reflect and unwind. Life is too short anyway to be stressed out constantly, and does not do your blood sugars any favors, and in fact, will make your glucose much worse.
